About This Project

Welcome to the official website for the News Revenue Hub, a special project of the nonprofit news organization Voice of San Diego.

Our goal is to help others in the industry set up comprehensive membership and crowdfunding programs so they can achieve greater sustainability.

We help organizations with member recruitment and retention, audience engagement, and custom software installation.

We do this so Hub participants can focus on what they do best: producing high quality journalism.

In December 2016, we launched a pilot with five award-winning organizations: Honolulu Civil Beat, InsideClimate News, NJ Spotlight, PolitiFact and The Lens.

In early 2017, we welcomed CalMatters, The Intercept, The Marshall Project, The Rivard Report, and Youth Radio to the Hub.

The News Revenue Hub is run by Mary Walter-Brown and Tristan Loper.
